Fidelity Investments Board Development Program

The Initiative for Nonprofit Excellence at the Rhode Island Foundation posted the Fidelity Investments Board Development Program schedule of classes. The schedule includes classes for board development, board engagement and fundraising.

Take a look. It might be something that steering committee members will be interested in.

tlc update and next meetings

Hello Everyone:

We need to meet as a steering team soon to discuss our next event, organizational capacity, and plans for the coming year.

The back pack event went well. TLC business cards were distributed with the website and facebook information. If you haven't already, you can like Cumberland's TLC on facebook. We were able to link to the internet so that people could actually see the website. There was alot of interest in what we are doing.

I spoke with John Marsland about a partnership event with the Friends of the Blackstone, Blackstone River Watershed Council. He suggested a family oriented event with canoe and kayaking instruction and park rangers who could provide information about the history of the Blackstone. There would be hands on activities about the fish ladder project, storm water, and river life (bugs) ect.

The main event would be near the Stop and Shop. He confirmed that Saturday, October 16th is a good date.

He also talked about organizing a great outdoors pursuit. We may be able to add this type of idea into the next big event.

John also asked for TLC partnership for a clean-up event at the Elder Ballou Cemetery on Halloween weekend.

I would like to suggest a Tuesday September 7th meeting for the Steering Team and a Monday, September 13th meeting for the larger TLC group. Please let me know if this will work for you or suggest more doable dates.
